Linkedin always seemed like the more professional version of facebook in that many of the people you meet will be on Linkedin and that is a designated place to talk about careers. Likely you could make a group on there based on teaching in a certain area or something.

 I think that self identity is a very powerful and important thing for humans. It is something that is crafted by you over your lifetime - consciously and unconsciously. When I was younger I used to abuse the internet for its knowledge. Teachers wouldn't know... looking back at it now, it's entirely likely they just didn't care. After years of introspection I realized that copying stuff is not what I wanted to do. And the stuff that I did copy acted as an overall disservice to me. This is other people's work and effort, not mine. Copyright is to not only to maintain ones own intellectual property legally, but also point people to better information.  I think that data collecting tools are so extremely important in every field in order for the space to run efficiently. What teachers often forget is that no matter how well they believe they understand a concept, everything is for naught if they cannot communicate that process effectively to their students. The subtle hints that we receive from our class is sometimes not enough to properly judge their mastery over the subject at hand. And even when we ask there are two indistinguishable silences: the silence that indicates they got it or the silence that arises from being so confused they do not know how to address it. The best way to understand what your class needs is to give them an anonymous survey or one with a participation grade.  The most interesting topic while reading other blogs was one about learning stem online.
