I think that self identity is a very powerful and important thing for humans. It is something that is crafted by you over your lifetime - consciously and unconsciously. When I was younger I used to abuse the internet for its knowledge. Teachers wouldn't know... looking back at it now, it's entirely likely they just didn't care. After years of introspection I realized that copying stuff is not what I wanted to do. And the stuff that I did copy acted as an overall disservice to me. This is other people's work and effort, not mine. Copyright is to not only to maintain ones own intellectual property legally, but also point people to better information. We live in an age where people hear something and type it out to the internet for the whole world to see. But it gets muddled like a game of telephone. Eventually it becomes inaccurate. With a copyright, the more than likely truer version is the only version. However there is also fair use. This is different. Instead of usin

I really don't remember a time before I was comfortable with Microsoft word. My parents were fortunate enough to afford a family computer when I was young and I remember using that occasionally for assignments as early as elementary school. I grew up with it. Every year of my adolescence, even in college I have learned more and more about the functions of the software to where I am extremely confident in doing just about anything in word. But I do see benefit in using google docs. For starters, it saves automatically. I have heard that word may do that now but I am not sure if mine does and do not want to risk it. And even if it does, occasionally the file gets saved in a really hard to find place, where as in docs I can search the file by name or by date or even a phrase of writing within the document. It also acts as free storage which is nice. I feel more confident in word though. I can also use word without an internet connections. I can use it while traveling to get work done

Blog Journal #1

My name is Zach and I am a lot of things. A son, a student, a human, a philosophy major; now a blogger. None of those things reflect me though. Most of them weren't choices. And even the thing that I did "choose" was not of free will. Philosophy just seemed fitting and university required for me to survive in this climate. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy what I study but what I actually want to be is a screenwriter for television. So this blog might be good practice for me.   I have definitely never done something like this before, and I am not sure why I haven't. There is something cathartic about putting your own creation out to the world for others to freely enjoy. I went to school during that weird transition to more technology based materials like computers and smartboards. And in college I of course learned more in depth about microsoft office programs. The problem with that was they were all solely graded by the teacher. Not to undervalue a teachers work, but
